What’s This All About?
Thanks to £5,000 of generous investment from Stif Mountain Bikes, matched by another £3k of public money raised by Ride Bristol, we’ve now renovated a big chunk of Beggar Bush at Ashton Court.
The surface has been repaired, new features have been built, 200 tonnes of stone has been brought in and the whole thing has been given a proper spruce up.
The work was made possible by Stif Mountain Bikes, Velosolutions, Plantforce, Bristol City Council and – you – the public who have donated money and volunteer-time to RideBristol.
This event will be your first chance to ride the trail and a chance to celebrate another success for Bristol mountain biking.
Anything Else To Know?
Please bring your bike, a helmet, clothes suitable for the weather and something warm to wear for drinks in the beer garden of the Tabacco Factory. You may also want to bring a change of clothes to wear if you’d like to sit indoors. Riders will be able to leave bags at Pedal Progression during the ride and will be able to collect them before we head down to Bedminster.
For the launch ceremony, you can expect a few laps of the renovated trail and then a group ride around Ashton Court and through some of the wider trail network.
The trails will be a mix of surfaced and natural and will require a mountain bike that’s capable of riding off-road.
RideBristol volunteers will lead the ride with a suggested route – but – you’ll need to be responsible for yourself and your bike. In terms of technical ability, the ride will be suitable for anyone that can ride the surfaced mountain bike trails at Ashton Court.
Planning to attend the Women’s Ride Bristol ride on the same day? No problem! It’s still happening – the plan is just to stop by the launch event as part of your ride.
