Come Join Us For The Thursday Night Ride Out!
Fancy a bike ride..?
We’re organising our first monthly Thursday Night Ride Out – starting February 15th and then running every 3rd Thursday of the month from them on.
Dates are:
March 21st
April 18th
May 16th
June 20th
July 18th
… And so on.
Meet up ready to ride at 7PM, meeting at Pedal Progression, Ashton Court.
We’ll take in some of our favourite trails, have some fun, keep it social and finish at a pub to celebrate. Everyone’s welcome, it’s free to attend, just show up!
This new regular group mountain bike ride will be every 3rd Thursday of the month, meeting at the same time and place each time. If it goes well – we’ll think about maybe doing them more often.
We’ll be shown round by Fi Wilson, Claire Sharp, Carla Tonks and Jamie – all Ride Bristol volunteers who know Bristol’s trails inside out.
No need to sign up or register – just show up!
So What’s This All About?
It’s a free-to-attend, all-welcome, group mountain bike ride and it’s hosted by Ride Bristol.
We’ll keep it super social and the pace will be chilled. No one will get left behind, dropped or left stranded.
We’ll ride a mix of terrain but nothing too demanding – if you’ve ridden the blue and red trails at Ashton Court, you’ll be good for this one. We may stray onto more challenging stuff in future – but that depends on how the ride evolves.
This one’s a group ride – we’re not guiding or coaching, but we’ll have some of RideBristol volunteers showing the group around and following their favourite route.
Anything I Need To Know?
We’re meeting at Pedal Progression in Ashton Court.
Address: Ashton Court Golf and Cycle Hub, Abbots Leigh Road, Bristol, BS8 3PX.
Please note, there’s no parking here at this time of the evening but there’s plenty in the surrounding area.
We’ll set off at 7PM so please be ready to roll out on the dot.
The ride will finish at a pub at around 9ish.
We’ll choose the pub each ride – but generally it’ll always be either in Clifton near the Suspension Bridge or somewhere near the riverside in BS1.
If you need to get back up the hill to Ashton Court at the end of the ride, we can point you in the right direction.
This one’s a night ride till the clocks change so you’ll need a decent set of lights that are suitable for riding MTB trails.
You might also need a jacket for the pub, cos we might sit outside to stay near the bikes.
And, it’s a mountain bike ride. You’ll need a working, safe bike that can ride surfaced and ‘natural’ mountain bike trails. You’ll also need to bring along anything you need to be self-sufficient.

Girls ride bikes too
In the fifteen years I’ve been mountain biking, the gender landscape of the sport has changed dramatically, but we still have a long way to go.
